Initiatives
-
Rationalization of Specific Plastic Product Usage
To promote the rationalization of specific plastic product usage, we have been gradually switching to environmentally friendly products since 2019. In May 2022, we completely eliminated petroleum-based plastic straws across all business formats within the Group and completed the transition to biodegradable plastic straws at all locations. Continuing these efforts, we successfully completed the full transition of five designated plastic items in September 2023.
Furthermore, for products beyond these five items, we are advancing the rationalization of plastic product usage by implementing measures such as reducing the thickness of takeout containers and offering straws only to customers who request them.
-
Utilization of Biomass Shopping Bags
To reduce petroleum-based plastic usage, we fully transitioned from conventional plastic shopping bags to environmentally friendly bags made with 25% biodegradable biomass material in July 2020.
-
Reduction of Plastic Waste and Resource Conservation
To reduce plastic waste and conserve resources, we are promoting the transition to reusable and recyclable packaging materials.
At Freshness Burger, a fast-food chain, the transition from plastic takeout containers to recycled products has been completed. At Kappa Sushi, sushi trays used for takeout have been gradually replaced with recycled materials since September 2022. Additionally, other plastic-based supplies are being progressively switched to environmentally friendly alternatives.-
